My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world - 1 John 2:1-2
The Greek word for advocate literally means “one who is called to someone’s aid. What an encouragement that Jesus Christ is our advocate, our helper, our aid. Hebrews 7:25 says, "Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he also ways lives to make intercession for them." Praises be that we have a high priest that is holy, and exalted above the heavens who makes intercession for US. We praise Him, because we need Him to make intercession and to advocate with the Father in our behalf, as He does.
